Sherry St. John-Clark

My Career in radio began during my freshman year at The University of North Alabama.
I was the very first female Top 40 dj in North Alabama.
One of my most fond memories of the early days was being on the air with Your Buddy Ron on WQLT and counting down for the switch to be thrown to turn WQLT into a 100,000 watt giant! That was exciting!
From the Shoals I moved to Memphis, Tennessee, working for WHBQ. There, I worked with the legendary Rick Dees.
Then it was on to Houston, Texas to do middays at KULF/KKBQ.  While in Texas I was hired by Shotgun Cook Productions to go to New York City and do a six hour radio special with TV host Dick Cavett.  That remains the highlight of my career. A scared 20 year old girl from Cherokee, Alabama… in the Big Apple,  working in a studio with Dick Cavett.
But over the years I remained friends with Sam Phillips and eventually came home to Big River Broadcasting. This is home. I miss my buddy, Sam… and often remember,  with great fondness our wonderful conversations.
Sunday Night Country Classics on KIX 96 from 6 to 11 weekly,  a full schedule of freelance voice overs and a non-stop schedule being married to Muscle Shoals drummer Roger Clark…is how I spend my tme!
You know, I never thought of being on the radio as a “job as an announcer.” I truly always think of it as a chance to have a conversation with a  large group of friends… while listening to really great music.  How can you not love that?

Tune in to hear me now each and every weekday from 10:00-2:00!!
