The time is here again when my wife and I head back up to east Tennessee to see her family for Christmas. It's always lots of fun, and exactly the opposite of spending the holidays around my family. We're a prolific family, and when we get together at Thanksgiving down in Marion County, mostly we eat good food and have subdued conversation. Here in Alabama most of the kids are my age, or still too young to cause a bunch of fuss.
In Athens, TN, though, the kids are all in the perfect age range for a Christmas ruckus. It's always a blast being around the energy and bustle, and this year they're adding a little twist to the festivities. We're doing an awful sweater Christmas this year, so Heidi and I looked around for some terrible ones for a couple of weeks this month. Apparently, however, that's a popular thing to do here in the Valley this year, because all of the atrocious sweaters were already sold out. We got creative, though, and made some of our own :)
Here's Heidi's, with some stockings that need a little love from Santa...
And here's mine featuring a wonky Christmas tree
I don't know if we'll win the competition, but we had a great time working on them together. I hope your Christmas holiday is safe and full of fun. And I hope you get the chance to sip a cup of cheer from one of these!
